Climbing at Moody Beach is like stepping into a lost world. Surrounded by jungle-covered limestone rocks, this hidden sandy beach offers vertical climbs with stunning views over Lan Ha Bay. Whether you're a beginner or an intermediate climber, this tour provides an ideal introduction to outdoor climbing in a spectacular natural setting.

Tour Overview:
Guests are picked up in Cat Ba town and transferred to our climbing office for a quick fitting of shoes and equipment. From there, you'll travel by boat to Moody Beach — a unique climbing location accessible only from the sea.

At the crag, our experienced guides will set up top rope systems and support you from below as you begin climbing. The routes range from 4c to 6b+, and based on your ability and experience, the guides will recommend routes suitable to you. You'll receive hands-on coaching and instruction throughout the session, including basic climbing techniques, how to tie figure-8 knots, how to communicate with your belayer, and how to use climbing gear safely.

Every climb rewards you with panoramic views of Lan Ha Bay from the top. Between climbs, you can relax on the beach or enjoy a swim in the calm, clear waters. This beach offers vertical limestone routes with excellent rock quality, perfect holds, and safe ledges for resting.

HALF DAY TOP ROPE / LEAD CLIMBING – MOODY BEACH, LAN HA BAY

Climbing in Moody Beach is akin to climbing in a lost world. Dark limstone, overgrown with vines, waiting for you on a sandy beach. Don't forget the camera, the view from the top of the climbing is stunning!  -  Luca De Giogi & Gavi Piper

Itinerary

7:00 am : Pick-up from your hotel in Cat Ba Town to the office.

7:30 am :  at the office, try on shoes and pick up equipment.

8:00 am: The car will pick you up at the office to go to Beo wharf , then get on the boat to go to the climbing point. It takes 30 minutes to get to the climbing point where you will find climbs ranging from 4+ to 6b+. Then, our professional guides will set up the top rope and support you while you're climbing.

Start climbing while the guides belay and instruct you from below. 

• Based on each one's climbing experience and strength, the guides will recommend you the routes you should try. There is no time limit in climbing – this is the first step to introduce you to climbing technique, challenge and defeat your own fear. Our guides will be your coaches and supporters to help you complete the climbing routes. During the trip, the guides will give you a course about tying the figure 8-knots, communicating in technical terms, and you'll learn the names of different movements on the wall. A quick introduction about the climbing devices will help you understand the importance of safety in climbing.
• The reward for every climb is the wonderful view of Lan Ha Bay from the top of the route. The guides will lower you down, then you can relax on the beach or swim in the refreshing water.
• Our rock climbing trip will take place on Moody Beach, Lan Ha Bay . This beach is a great crag for beginning and intermediate climbers, with 6 routes graded from 4c to 6b. Aside from one overhanging climb, routes are all vertical. Rock quality is very good, with numerous good holds and ledges to rest.

1. MAO DE – 5a, 21m, 10 bolts. Start from a stone a few meters right of the line. Climb diagonally up and leftward to an exposed step and small chimney finish.
2. BAREFOOT VIETNAMESE – 6b+, 15m, 10 bolts. The most challenging route in the crag, with nice overhanging movements.
3. NO GI – 4c, 14m, 6 bolts. Climb up the big boulder and follow the chimney to the top. The upper section can be a bit tricky.
4. HONEYMOONER'S DELIGHT – 5a, 11m, 6 bolts. Climb the arete to the top of the pillar. Traverse up and left through a series of pockets to the top.
5. ROUTINE HEAVEN – 6a, 20m, 9 bolts. Two meters of tricky climbing at the second bolt makes the grade. The rest is pure fun.
6. DO IT FOR BILLY JOEL – 5a, 20m, 8 bolts. Follow the line of least resistance up the big chimney.

 12:30:  Return to Beo wharf.

You should bring:

• mosquito repellant, comfortable clothes for climbing, sunscreen and eat before arriving
