09:30 – Explore Hoa Son Cave, a natural wonder featuring thousands of stalactites and stalagmites formed over millennia. Marvel at the delicate coral-like patterns and spot unique formations such as a white rock structure resembling a giant elephant.
10:30 – Continue your scenic ride with stops at viewpoints along the way for breathtaking panoramic photos of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Visit a Muong ethnic minority village to learn about their stilt houses and customs. Continue to Thung Khe Pass, a stunning mountain pass offering sweeping views over Mai Chau Valley.

11:00 – Arrive in Mai Chau for an authentic, home-cooked lunch with a White Thai ethnic family. Enjoy their warm hospitality and traditional cuisine. After lunch, take free time to explore the village and interact with locals.

13:30 – Cycle through the villages and rice fields. Ride along narrow paths past terraced paddies and tranquil countryside. Stop at Chieng Chau ferry wharf and enjoy a peaceful bamboo rafting trip down a gentle stream, soaking in the serene scenery.

14:30 – Continue cycling to Pom Coong and Na Phon villages, home to the White Thai ethnic minority. Admire their stilt houses, vibrant handwoven textiles, and traditional way of life.

16:00 – Return and check in to your accommodation. Enjoy some relaxing free time.

19:00 – Dinner and overnight in Mai Chau. Relish a delicious traditional meal featuring local specialties before settling in for the night.

 

DAY 2: Mai Chau – Hanoi

Option 1: Hoa Binh Hydropower Lake – Hanoi

07:30 – After breakfast

Depart from the homestay and transfer to Hoa Binh Hydropower Dam, located about 20 km from Lac Village.

08:15 – Visit Mai Chau Floating House

Explore the local floating houses where people raise freshwater fish and other aquatic products in bamboo cages. Then board a boat and cruise to Ngoi Hoa Bay, famously known as the “Ha Long Bay on the Mountain”. Along the way, admire the majestic limestone mountains, lush forests, and the tranquil emerald water of the reservoir.

09:30 – Kayaking and swimming at Ngoi Hoa Bay

The boat stops at Ngoi Hoa, giving you time to enjoy outdoor activities such as kayaking and swimming in the refreshing, crystal-clear water. This is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the pristine natural surroundings.

07:30 – After breakfast, depart for Hang Kia and Pa Co, located about 30 km from Mai Chau.

08:30 – Arrive at Hang Kia for cloud hunting, a magical experience at over 1,000 meters above sea level. The cool, misty climate creates a dreamlike landscape, often reflecting all four seasons in a single day.

09:30 – Arrive in Pa Co commune, where visitors can immerse themselves in the daily life of the Mong people. Engage in activities such as learning to cook traditional Mong dishes, experiencing the process of making vibrant traditional clothing (brocade weaving, fabric dyeing), joining locals to pick Shan Tuyet tea leaves, grow vegetables, harvest corn, and explore the colorful ethnic market.

The Mong people in this area are known for their traditional crafts, including weaving, embroidery, dyeing, bee wax painting, blacksmithing, and making paper from mulberry bark. Their culinary traditions are just as unique, with special dishes such as corn wine, "thang co" (a traditional Mong stew), "cai meo" (a type of local cabbage), chicken and pork from local breeds, sticky rice, and wild bamboo shoots.

 

Option 3: Relaxing and free time in Mai Chau

07:30 – Breakfast at the homestay

Enjoy a fresh morning surrounded by the peaceful valley. After breakfast, relax and unwind by the swimming pool.

  •  Visit the local Sunday Market (only on Sundays) and discover the colorful culture of ethnic minority groups.
  • Take a short walk (approx. 2 km) to Chieu Cave, an off-the-beaten-path spot with impressive limestone formations.
  •  Relax at a local café with panoramic views of the rice fields and mountains.
  • Learn how to cook Com Lam (bamboo sticky rice).
  • Try traditional brocade weaving with local artisans.
  • Join villagers in their daily life activities for an authentic experience.

 

 

12:00 – Return to Mai Chau. Check-out, enjoy lunch, and explore the village a bit more.

16:00 – Depart for Hanoi or continue to another destination such as Ninh Binh, Pu Luong, Sapa, Ha Giang, or Ha Long (additional transport fees apply).
